Serra Retreat is a Catholic retreat and conference center which provides the space, in a beautiful setting, for peace, serenity and reflection. We are located between the mountains and the ocean in Malibu, California with stunning views.
In 1942, the Franciscan Friars purchased the 26 acre property with an abandoned hilltop mansion and began hosting Catholic men's retreats. In the 1970's they began hosting women's retreats. The Franciscan Friars continue the tradition for welcoming groups and personal retreats, as well as meetings, conferences and workshops. Serra Retreat provides a superb opportunity for church groups, schools, non-profit and profit organizations, to reflect, plan and set new goals.
We offer a variety of Sponsored Retreats (please click on Retreats for dates), all are welcome to register. You or your group would enjoy guest rooms, meals, a conference room and speakers. Each individual attending would register and pay through Serra Retreat. With a Hosted Retreat your group would also enjoy guest rooms, meals and a conference room. Your group would supply the speaker, if needed. All registrations and payments would be made through the group leader.
The Friars and staff invite you to "come apart and rest a while" (Mk 6:31) mindful of the saying: If you are too busy to make a retreat; you are too busy.
